JOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Academic Advisors

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Director of Academic Advisors

JOB GOAL: The Assistant Director of Academic Advisors assists the Director of Academic Advisors by providing leadership, communication, support, and ongoing feedback to the Academic Advisors and auxiliary personnel. The Assistant Director of Academic Advisors ensures that students and families are receiving the highest level of service, academic support, and guidance throughout their enrollment with PA Cyber.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid and active Pennsylvania teaching certification
  • Child Abuse Clearance; Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Clearance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • First and primary contact for Academic Advisors and other auxiliary staff
  • Serves as a liaison between the Academic Advisors and Director of Academic Advisors
  • Promote and maintain a professional working environment.
  • Understand all curricular options offered by PA Cyber.
  • Monitor at-risk students and serve as a resource for the Academy administration.
  • Train new Academic Advisors and auxiliary staff
  • Maintain quality assurance.
  • Review Academic Advisor withdrawals and ensure accuracy.
  • Monitor Academic Advisor student retention trends.
  • Monitor and report Academic Advisor communication frequency and ensure timely phone contact.
  • Participate in new student induction period.
  • Coordinate Academic Advisor and auxiliary staff PTO requests and approve time appropriately in VISTA.
  • Review high school graduation requirements and Academic Histories as needed
  • Act as a key communicator
  • Attend enrollment events and school functions, as necessary.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring process of Academic Advisors.
  • Review, assign, and distribute newly enrolled students to Academic Advisors.
  • Provide ongoing training for department members.
  • Communicate changes, procedures, expectations, and other pertinent information Provide direct supervision to Academic Advisor and Administrative Assistant staff
  • Assist the Director of Academic Advisors with employee incidents, violations, and improvement plans.
  • Responsible for evaluating Academic Advisors and auxiliary staff yearly performance.
  • Communicates with Principals, Academic Deans, Special Education Coordinators, Directors, Supervisors, and other school personnel to make administrative decisions.
  • Responsible to address, resolve, and document parent/student concerns as necessary
  • Perform any additional duties as deemed necessary by the administration
